Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe
I made homemade Chicken Noodle Soup often this winter and since it was such a hit, I thought that I would share with you, too. Remember when Cookies in a Jar were so popular? Now you can make a Meal in a Jar! If you can boil water, you can do this! If you've never made a meal in a jar, watch this video and see how easy it is. The video is in my Meal in Jar group on Facebook, so join and leave only if you must. The link is at the bottom of the blog.
These are the ingredients you'll need from Thrive Life food.
1 C Thrive Life Seasoned Chicken Slices
1/4 C Thrive Life dehydrated Carrots
1/4 C Thrive Life dehydrated Onions
1/4 C Thrive Life freeze dried Celery
3 T Parsley (You can use your own spice from your cupboard. It's ok.)
1/4 C Thrive Life Chicken Bouillon
To make a meal in a jar, add the above ingredients to a clean, dry quart-size jar, in the order listed. Place a plastic sandwich bag into the jar. Fill with 1 1/2 C of Thrive Life Egg Noodles. Twist the bag closed, add an 300cc oxygen absorber (found on Amazon) and close with a ring and lid. Set on your shelf and admire your beautiful work. (The meal is totally shelf-stable and does not need to be refrigerated.)
To prepare the meal: Open jar and remove the oxygen absorber from the jar and discard. Remove the noodles from the bag and set aside. Sweat 2 T butter and 1 T. garlic in a large pan until lightly browned. Then add 8 Cups of water and all the ingredients of the jar (except for the noodles) to the water. Bring to a boil and turn down to a simmer. Let cook 15-20 minutes. Turn heat up to med-high and add the noodles. Simmer for 10 minutes on med heat or until the noodles are done.
There's enough food here to make 12 quart size meals (4-6 servings each).
1 #10 can of Seasoned Chicken Slices
1 #10 can of dehydrated Carrots
1 Pantry can of dehydrated Onions
1 Pantry can of Celery
If you want to use the noodles that I used add
2 #10 Cans of Egg noodles
The other item you'll need is Dried Parsley. The cost for one meal (4-6 servings), without the Parsley from Thrive Life, is $10.05. If you only want 2-3 servings, just split the above recipe in half and fill up a pint size jar. THAT'S only a $5.00 meal! Of course, the jars are only for convenience, you could just add the ingredients to a pot and cook it up that way. Or if you're planning some trips this summer, add it to a Mylar bag and take it with you.
